STAR Scholarships

Staff pursuing Track 2 who complete at least 20 hours of STAR credit and are interested in continued professional development can apply for a STAR Scholarship up to $500. If awarded, this scholarship can be used for conferences, continuing education courses, certification, textbooks, and course fees.

Eligibility

Any staff member (salaried or hourly) in A&S who has completed 20 hours of STAR before December 31 can apply for a scholarship (e.g., staff who completed 20 hours before December 31, 2023 can apply for the scholarship in 2024).

Recipients of a STAR scholarship are eligible for reapplication after three years (e.g., 2022 recipient can reapply for 2025 funding).

Application Process

Eligible staff members should apply using the STAR Scholarship Application form; the application opens in a separate window.

For STAR hours earned in 2023, scholarship applications will be accepted through January 25, 2024.

Review Process

Applications will be reviewed by the A&S STAR Scholarship Committee. This committee will be made up of hourly and salaried staff from across the College.

Scholarship recipients will be notified in February.

Requirements

Scholarships (up to $500) can be applied toward conference registration, continuing education courses, certification, textbooks, and course fees.

Funds received must be used within the fiscal year they are received.

Award recipients will agree to serve on the A&S STAR Scholarship Committee (no additional compensation) to review applications for the two years following their award.

STAR Scholarship Committee

The committee will consist of those who have been awarded scholarships in the previous two years.
